Hydro Group Systems design and manufacture subsea underwater electrical cables, fiber optic cables, hybrid cables, tethers and umbilicals for the subsea oil and gas, renewable energy and defence industry. Our focus is on product innovation, design, engineering and manufacturing of harsh environment composite power cables for subsea, underwater, topside and onshore applications. Hydro Group are able to manufacture complete cable harnesses at very short notice and are able to supply short lengths to customers for system trials and system design proofing.
Our in-house engineering team utilise the latest software to design multi-component cables to meet customer requirements and necessary standards for various subsea applications taking into account the application, location and lifecycle requirements of the cable. Calculations such as voltage drop, current carrying capacity and insulation resistance are analysed to ensure that cables meet the required criteria with further analysis such as fatigue, bending and axial stiffness carried out upon request.
Cables are manufactured in our state of the art facility in Aberdeen, starting from the bare conductor to extruding the insulation, laying up of components, braiding, armouring, and final extrusion. New manufacturing capabilities now allow the production of cables from only 100 metres to several kilometres in length and diameters from 5mm to 120mm. High grade materials are used in manufacture to produce cables with superior abrasion resistance, flexibility and reliability.
Hydro Group Systems design, manufacture and supply subsea, underwater, topside and onshore cables to a variety of industries including offshore oil and gas, defense and renewable energy.
Hydro Group holds the certification approval to ISO 9001:2008 to design and manufacture subsea hybrid electrical optical cables, specialist underwater and harsh environment electrical and optical composite cables, tethers and umbilicals.
